Newly-crowned Premier League champions Leicester City visited Yangon in Thailand and partook in the city's Shwedagon Pagoda on Sunday as part of their post season tour. The Foxes, went on a brief tour of the Shwedagon, which contains relics from the Buddha. Coach Claudio Ranieri clasped his hands in respect as he knelt alongside Leicester's billionaire owner Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha, and several players in front of the glittering pagoda as they prayed. Arsenal legend Robert Pires' 7-year-old son signs deal with Arsenal Academy

His father spent six years at the club and was part of an Arsenal side that lifted two premier league trophies including the famous invincibles. Now young Theo is looking to follow in those large footsteps. The 7-year-old signed a deal with Arsenal's famous Hale End academy and the proud dad couldn't hide his delight as he made the announcement on social media.

A presenter on Television Continental, TVC, Wale Fakile, has reportedly been arrested for allegedly assaulting his girlfriend.
Fakile, who co-presents ‘Trends’ and the popular, ‘Question Time’, was arrested on Thursday after he left his girlfriend, identified only as Mandy with many bruises after an alleged brutal assault.

Mandy had exposed her boyfriend on Facebook and he was reportedly arrested after a Facebook user received a distress message from her.

CAF fines Nigeria $5,000 for stadium overcrowding in AFCON qualifier

Africa's ruling football body, CAF, on Monday morning May 9th fined the Nigerian Football Federation $5,000 for allowing its stadium to be overcrowded during their 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Egypt in Kaduna in March.

The Kaduna State government had thrown open the doors of the venue for free to allow fans to watch the crucial AFCON qualifier which ended 1-1

Following the well-publicized event, the Grafton Entertainment artiste, on April 30, 2016, put up a resounding performance alongside, Banky W, Ice Prince, Cynthia Morgan, Faze, Beverly Osu, Uti Nwachukwu, Prince Hezekiah, Pencil, Kenny Blaq, Doray and many others.

27 year old Scottish footballer Chris Mitchell has died at the age of 27 after he was hit and killed by a
 train. The  former Clyde, Falkirk and Queen of the South defender died instantly as he was struck on Saturday afternoon May 7th by a moving train near Cornton, Stirling, Scotland.
He retired from football four months ago to take on a new job but now his former club Clyde have confirmed that a minute's silence will be held tomorrow before Clyde's match against Queen's Park at Broadwood in honour of the footballer.

Michel Platini resigns as UEFA president after his ban from football is reduced to 4years

Michael Platini has resigned from his post as UEFA president after his ban from football for 6 years was reduced to four years by the Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS).

CAS effectively removed Platini from world football by ensuring his ban runs beyond his current Uefa mandate, which expires in March 2019. The court said in a statement that the ban “corresponds to the duration of a presidential term”.
“I take note of today’s decision from Cas but I see it as a profound injustice,” Platini said in a statement. “This decision inflicts a suspension on me that, as luck would have it, stops me from contesting the next election for the FIFA presidency.''

Mr Tanko Nuru who was the match commissioner in Sunday's Nigerian football League match between Kano Pillars and Ikorodu United was found dead in his hotel room this morning. Ikorodu United tweeted his death on their official Twitter account. Nuru, who is from Nassarawa State, performed his duties during the NPFL fixture yesterday May 8th before retiring to his hotel room where he was found dead this morning by hotel staff.

The cause of Nuru's death is still unknown as at press time.

Barely two days after midfielder Patrick Ekengdied collapsed during a match of the Championship of Romania, the Cameroonian Football Federation has been struck by yet another tragedy. The Cameroon football federation (Fecafoot) announced on Sunday, May 8, the passing of the goalie of the Femina Stars of Ebolowa, Jeanine Christelle Djomnang, during a first division match against club de Louves Minproff. Shitta Progressive Football Association

Over the years, the Shitta area was known and accepted as the unofficial breeding ground for football talents that eventually grow to represent Nigeria at various international competitions.

The Likes of Waidi Akanni, Fatai Atere, Henry Nwosu, Stephen Okechukwu Keshi, Taribo West, Peter Ogaba, Kayode Keshinro, Teslim Fatusi and Olumide Harris graduated from being nurtured in Shitta to becoming National footballing icons. There is hardly ever a Nigerian football team that does not have one or more “shitta bred”.

Barcelona defender Dani Alves turned 33 today and his teammates gave him the most unexpected of celebrations as they bombarded his face and clothe with loads of eggs and flour on his birthday. Alves was greeted by balloons and a cake from his model girlfriend Joana Sanz before training in the morning, but had to settle for pelts of eggs and flour from his teammates during training this morning. The goalkeeper of Giwa FC Timothy Chichi  Okere has died after a prolonged battle with a spinal cord injury. He died yesterday May 4th in Jos, and it's sad times for the football club and the League Management company as Timothy has been an important member of the squad and played a major role towards helping the team to gain promotion to the Nigeria Professional Football League three years ago before losing his spot to Flying Eagles goaltender Ojo Olorunleke at the commencement of the team’ s season in the NPFL.

Kelechi Iheanacho wants his salary at Man City increased from £10k to £200k (N58m) per week

Super Eagles of Nigeria and Manchester City football club of England striker Kelechi Iheanacho has reportedly asked the management of Man City for an increase in his salary from about £10,000 per week to £200,000 per week.

The 19 year old Imo state born striker who 3 years ago was still playing for Taye Academy in Owerri, has informed the club through his agents for the bumper salary package, saying he is one of the best strikers in Europe if his goal per minute ratio is considered, also saying his 13 goals this season have been crucial for Man City's season.
