Nigeria Football Federation President Amaju Pinnick has come out to defend his term in office after critics called on him to resign following Super Eagles failure to qualify for AFCON 2017.

Amaju highlighted his achievements with other national football teams during his tenure as enough proof his stewardship has been a success and categorically stated he won't resign as he had a four year tenure to complete.

The True Problem With The National Team

I've read many times from different people that the Nigerian national team, the Super Eagles suffer from a lack of 'quality' players. The team have been accused of having sub-standard players who never play their best in the Nigerian colours and I used to believe that.

I believed it so much, I advocated a total overhauling of the team- get in new guys, young blood with heart and mettle. People who are ready to lay it down for the green white green. That should work, right?

Nations Cup Qualifier: CAF Deducts 3 Points From Nigeria, Explains Why - CAF

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has deducted points from Nigeria, Egypt and Tanzania, all members of Group G, following the withdrawal of Chad from the ongoing qualification race for the 31st edition of the Africa Cup of Nations, Gabon 2017.

Chad were due to travel to Tanzania for the fourth match in the group, but instead made the announcement of a shocking withdrawal, citing financial constraints.

CAF swiftly applied its rules in conformity with Article 61 of the regulations of the competition which states: “If a team withdraws from the qualifying phase organised in groups, all its results shall be annulled (points, scored and conceded goals)”.

A 34-year-old Nigerian was stabbed to death by his friend after a  heated argument over who is the best footballer in the world in in Mumbai, India.

According to Times of India, the incident occurred on Sunday morning at Mahesh building, Ostwal Nagri, Nalasopara East.

The killer, one 22-year-old Michael Chukwuma, was part of the 34th birthday celebrations of Obinna Durumchukwu on Saturday night.

FIFA approves testing of video technology

The International Football Association Board has approved testing of video technology to aid match officials, it was announced today. Experiments will be carried out over a two-year period starting no later than the 2017/18 season. The decision to introduce video technology follows the widespread introduction of goal-line technology, which was used by FIFA at the 2014 World Cup and will be used by UEFA at this season’s Champions League and Europa League finals, as well at Euro 2016.

‘My Earlier Decision Stands’ – Enyeama Rules Out Nigeria Return

A return to the Super Eagles is not on the agenda for the OSC Lille goalkeeper, who will not rescind his decision to quit the senior national team Vincent Enyeama has ruled out a return to the Nigeria senior national team, claiming he does not want to talk about the issue again.

Enyeama, pulled the curtain on his international career, 13 years after making his debut for the Super Eagles on October 8, 2015 after a fractured relationship by coach Sunday Oliseh.

The 33-year-old Lille goalkeeper had arrived at the Eagles' training camp in Belgium late having had extra time off agreed following the death of his mother.
